Overview
Sound Plug is a Chrome extension that uses on-device AI to separate audio sources from any browser tab. This privacy policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is used.
We are committed to your privacy. This extension was built with a no-collection-by-default approach.
Data We Do Not Collect
Sound Plug does not collect, transmit, or share any of the following:
— Personal information (name, email, location)
— Browsing history or visited URLs
— Audio content or recordings
— Usage analytics or behavioral data
— Any data that could identify you as an individual
Permissions We Use
tabCapture — Captures the audio stream from your active tab solely to perform on-device audio separation. The audio is processed in memory and never stored or sent anywhere.
offscreen — Runs audio processing in an offscreen document so that the AI model can operate without interrupting your browser experience.
activeTab — Identifies the tab you want to apply audio separation to. No tab content or URLs are recorded.
storage — Saves your preferences (such as settings) locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage. This data never leaves your browser.
Host permissions (huggingface.co, cdn.jsdelivr.net) — Used to download the AI model files needed for audio processing. These requests do not include any user data. Once downloaded, all processing is local.
Third-Party Services
The extension downloads AI model files from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) and jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net). These are standard CDN requests and do not include any personal or identifying information. Once downloaded, the models run fully on your device.
Sound Plug does not integrate with any analytics, advertising, or data collection services.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the effective date at the top of this page will reflect the change. We will not reduce your privacy protections without clearly communicating the change.
